Persistent fuel thieves have abandoned a garage after a hi-tech detterent proved a success.
Stinger's were installed at the exits of Camstone Service Station, Whetstone, last month to prevent motorists from driving off without paying.
The garage used to lose up to £150 a week in fuel to thieves, and sometimes had upto three thefts a week. |

A petrol station has come up with a trick to stop thieves stealing fuel - deflating their tyres as they attempt to flee.
Hi-tech stingers have been installed at the exits of Camstone Service Station, Whetstone, to prevent offenders making a quick getaway.
The machines are the latest weapon aiming to crack down on drive-off crime, which cost the country's petrol industry £18 million a year. |
